With over 50 years of experience in the wine industry, our philosophy is simple: wine is meant to be enjoyed, not used for intellectual point scoring. That’s why, at our tastings, we prioritise creating a relaxed, fun and enjoyable atmosphere where learning about wine feels both engaging and entertaining. We believe the best way to explore the fascinating world of wine is through shared experiences, where curiosity is sparked and enjoyment is at the heart of every pour.
About Peter Ferguson
Peter Ferguson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, the land of whisky rather than wine!
However his father was a Director of a Scotch whisky company which was also responsible for several wine agencies and he encouraged Peter’s interest in the subject.
Upon graduating from Aberdeen University, with a degree in history and then two years teaching in Nigeria, Peter joined the wine trade as the marketing manager with Veuve Clicquot UK. He remained with Veuve Clicquot for ten years, becoming the Marketing Director, before moving to a similar role with Champagne
Bollinger.
During this time he met the legendary Californian wine maker, Robert Mondavi, and was asked to join his team as the European Sales Manager. It was here Peter developed his experience and love for international sales and public speaking.
This continued throughout his career with Jess Jackson's Family Estates, Lodovico Antinori’s Tenuta di Biserno and for thirteen years with the Marchesi di Frescobaldi family company as the Global Sales Director for the wines of Tenuta Luce, Attems and Danzante.
Peter is a Wine and Spirit Education Trust Diploma graduate and a regular presenter of wines at international tastings and wine pairing dinners.
He believes wine is essentially enjoyed in good company and should be not regarded as an intellectual exercise in point scoring! Knowledge is always stimulated through humour and anecdotes and this mantra is very much a benchmark of Peter’s tasting style.
Peter can conduct in depth tastings of all wines of the world but his main areas of focus are Champagne, California, Alsace, New Zealand, Tuscany and Friuli.
